A true portrait is in many ways much harder to nail than action', says Mark Pain.
Photographing people and capturing what they stand for is an art in itself, and Mark has had plenty of practice. From deeply personal subjects such as James Cracknell with his new born son Croyde, to a symbolic first return to Athens for Dame Kelly Holmes in 2012, Mark had been privileged to get up close to today's sporting heroes.
He believes that portraits should tell a story, and this portfolio illustrates how he goes about achieving this.

Mark describes his most moving portrait; ' Taking Dame Kelly Holmes back to the Olympic Stadium in Athens for the first time since she won two Gold medals at the 2004 Olympic Games was a real privilege.
To witness first hand the emotion of someone returning to a place that has changed her life forever was incredible".
